Waterproofing for Section 07 1400 (07140) - Fluid-Applied Waterproofing

AVM
Industries makes two water-based, cold-applied rubberized
asphalt waterproofing products: AVM
System 500 (Aussie Membrane), which is a single component
product, and AVM
System 502 (Aussie II), which is a two component product.
Both are suitable for retaining walls, planters, and between-slab
waterproofing.

WHICH BELOW-GRADE MEMBRANE TO CHOOSE?
In many situations they are interchangeable. For smaller jobs
not exceeding 90 mils thick, it’s easier to use the single component
AVM System 500 (Aussie Membrane). For blind side waterproofing
(Lagging), roof paver systems, roof gardens, and other large jobs such
as vapor barriers, in-between slab waterproofing, large retaining walls
and where thicknesses are 90 mils and above, or where a more heavy duty
membrane is needed, use the AVM System 502 (Aussie II).
AVM System 500 (Aussie Membrane) is a vapor-proof, brown
rubber/bitumen liquid emulsion with excellent adhesion, which dries to
a tough, black seamless flexible waterproof membrane. The Aussie
Membrane is a single component thixotropic cold-applied bitumen
emulsion with added rubber latex. It exhibits excellent elongation and
recovery properties.
AVM System 502 (Aussie II) is a vapor-proof, brown
rubber/bitumen liquid emulsion with excellent adhesion, which dries to
a tough, black seamless flexible waterproof membrane. The Aussie II is
a thixotropic 2-component cold applied (sprayed on) bitumen emulsion
with added rubber latex. It is heavy duty, extra tough, very elastic,
very flexible and exhibits excellent elongation and recovery
properties. Aussie II can be applied up to 180 mils per coat and to a
total thickness exceeding 300 mils.
Waterproofing for Section 07 1800 Traffic Coatings (07185 - Traffic Membrane)
AVM
Industries' System
650SF pedestrian deck coating system is designed for everyday
use and is a 55 dry mils low odor solvent free, low odor, liquid
applied, moisture cured, urethane waterproof system. As a solvent free
coating, System 650SF meets the most restrictive VOC requirements,
including Southern California's AQMD clean air requirements. System
650SF elastomeric decking system consists of an epoxy primer, two coats
of a polyurethane basecoat and one or more coats of a polyurethane
topcoat.

Under-Tile Waterproofing for Section 09 3000 Tiling (09300 - Tile)
AVM
Industries makes two types of under-tile waterproofing: System
700 and System
750. Both exceed the ANSI A118.10 standard specified and are
approved by the ICC Evaluation Service and the City of Los Angeles.
WHICH UNDER-TILE MEMBRANE TO CHOOSE?
For the most part, AVM Systems 700 and 750 are
interchangeable. Both cost about the same and both have the same
approvals. Both systems may be used as shower pan liners and both
systems may be used as the "Primary Membrane" over living spaces. Both
systems are designed to have tile, brick, slate, etc., installed
directly over the membrane. If not sure, choose AVM System 750 - it is
easier to install (no fabric reinforcement except corners and details).
System 750 is also better suited for ponds, shower pans, and other
continuously wet applications, where a non-breathable system might be
preferred.
In contrast, AVM System 700 is UV resistant, breathable and
fully reinforced and therefore better suited for heavy duty and outdoor
applications, such as patios, decks, court-yards, roof-decks, etc.,
where it may form the primary membrane over living spaces.
