ConsensusDOCS Publishes Another Industry First!

On November 10, 2009, ConsensusDOCS, a coalition of 23 leading construction industry associations, released its Green Building Addendum.

The ConsensusDOCS 310 – Green Building Addendum is the first standard contract document drafted specifically to address the unique issues involved in building green.  The Addendum defines relevant terms and conditions and helps the parties set a sound contractual base to help ensure the parties understand their respective roles and responsibilities, and that risks remain fairly allocated for better project results.  The Addendum also preserves existing contractual relationships and does not allocate risks differently from the primary contract, unless the parties choose otherwise.  This allows the parties to employ green construction practices safely and efficiently.  

The Addendum is easily adaptable to any construction project that wants to employ green practices, and integrates well with other standard contract documents such as the ConsensusDOCS 200 – Owner/Contractor standard form agreement, but it written so that it can be easily adapted for use with other forms of construction contract documents.
