ANSUL / Grinnell / TYCO Fire Suppression and Building Products

The ANSUL division of TYCO has been added to Section 21 2000 - Clean-Agent Fire Extinguishing System (Section 13966 - Total Flooding Extinguishing System) as a “basis of design” manufacturer.  Intelligent linking within the section allows the user to easily specify one of two different, complete fire-detection and suppression systems with environmentally-friendly, “clean” extinguishing agents manufactured by ANSUL.  The user can also manually select from standard requirements and equipment to specify a gaseous-agent fire suppression system by any manufacturer.

The ANSUL division of TYCO leads off the entirely new Section 21 1339 (13955) - Foam-Water Sprinkler and Spray System as a “basis of design” manufacturer.  The section allows the user to specify ANSUL’s automatic foam-and-water-based fire suppression system with standard preaction systems and deluge types with options for specialty applications such as aircraft hangers.  The section can also be used to specify a similar fire-suppression system by any manufacturer.

ANSUL has also been added as a featured manufacturer of fire extinguishers in Section 10 4400 -- Fire Protection Specialties (10523 -- Fire Extinguishers, Cabinets and Accessories).

The Flow Control division of TYCO has been added as a featured manufacturer to Section 22 1005 (15145) -- Plumbing Piping, as well as in Sections 23 2113 (15182) Hydronic Piping and 21 2114 (15183) Hydronic Specialties. Section 23 2113 (15182) also features various valve products from TYCO and Section 21 2114 (15183) features relief valves as well.

TYCO's sprinkler products have been added to Section 21 1339 -- Fire-Suppression Sprinkler Systems (13925 -- Fire Suppression Sprinklers), and their Safety Relief Valves to Section 23 2214 -- Steam and Condensate Heating Specialties (15185 -- Steam and Steam Condensate Specialties).  

Section 15145 (22 1005) -- Plumbing Piping and Section 15184 (23  2214) -- Hydronic Piping, feature TYCO's gate, ball, and swing deck valves.

TYCO's Grinnell brand grooved pipe couplings have been added to the Plumbing, Hydronic, and Sprinkler Piping Sections -- 21 1300 (13925), 22 1005 (15145), and 23 2113 (15182).

Armstrong World Industries

Armstrong now heads the “Manufacturers” article in Section 09 5100 -- Acoustical Ceilings (09511 -- Suspended Acoustical Ceilings), Armstrong manufactures a wide variety of sound-absorbing, suspended-ceiling products, with a wide variety of properties, appearance features and finishes.

Besam Entrance Solutions

Besam Entrance Solutions has been added to a number of SpecLink+ automatic door sections as a featured manufacturer.

Besam is now a featured manufacturer in Section 08 4243 (08343) - Intensive Care Unit / Critical Care Unit Entrances.  Besam ICU entrances feature a closed header that prevents dust, germs and debris from entering the room while neatly and cleanly framing the doorway.  Heavy-duty rollers, concealed pivots and associated hardware insure the package will operate flawlessly.  An optional anti-microbial coating is available on handles and push plates or on the entire door package.

Besam is also a featured in Section 08 4229 Automatic Entrances (08460 -- Automatic Entrance Doors) as a manufacturer of automatic sliding door packages as well as automatic operators for swinging doors specified elsewhere.

Featured manufacturer Comex brings their complete line of UltraTech primers and coatings to Section 09 9000 -- Painting and Coating (09900 - Paints and Coatings).  UltraTech products meet or exceed MPI approved-product specifications and users can follow the hyperlink in Comex’s BSD SpecLink+ listing to a website which provides architects and designers with on-line tools for interior decorating and color selection.

J. M. Gruca

J.M. Gruca heads up the “Manufacturers” article in SpecLink+’s new Section 05 7300 - Decorative Metal Railings (05720 - Ornamental Handrails and Railings).  The user can select from a variety of decorative metal posts and rails with multiple mounting options.  Multiple intermediate-rail, metal infill panel or glass infill panel options are available.  All are available in a variety of finishes.

Epro Waterproofing Systems

eInsulation.com, Inc.

eInsulation.com joins Section 22 0719 - Plumbing Piping Insulation (15082 - Piping Insulation) and 23 0719 (15083) HVAC Piping Insulation as a featured manufacturer.  eInsulation’s jacket-type piping insulation is made of inorganic glass fibers bonded with a thermosetting resin.  Each section is 36 inches long and jacketed with high-intensity white Kraft paper bonded to a metalized polyester film reinforced with fiberglass.  Each section is precut to fit easily over pipe and has a self-sealing adhesive strip.

PPG

PPG joins Guardian Industries in Section 08 8000 (08800) - Glazing as a “basis of design” manufacturer in the Glazing Schedule for Low-E Sealed Insulating Glazing. Intelligent linking helps the user correctly specify the combination of glazing tint and coating based on PPG's requirements. Hyperlinks lead to PPG's online selectors and performance data.

YKK AP America

YKK AP America has been added to a number of sections in SpecLink+ as a “basis of design” manufacturer.

In Section 08 5113 (08520) -- Aluminum Windows, YKK offers six different series of aluminum framed windows in a variety of sizes and functional types.  All of the YKK windows listed are available in a variety of finishes, including in a range of finishes, including the latest AAMA 612-compliant, two-coat, natural anodized and color anodized types.  The user simply selects from a few basic characteristics (frame depth, etc.) and a few basic performance values (air and water infiltration, etc.) and the intelligent linking in the section selects the YKK window that meets the user’s specified requirements.  The user can also manually select components and performance requirements to specify an aluminum window system by any of the listed manufacturers.

In Section 08 4313 -- Aluminum-Framed Storefronts (08410 -- Metal-Framed Storefronts), YKK offers twelve different storefront options.  As in the Aluminum Windows section, the user selects a few basic characteristics and the intelligent linking in the section directs the user to the YKK storefront system that meets the specified requirements.  The user can also manually select components and performance requirements to specify a storefront system by any of the listed manufacturers.

In Section 08 4413 - Glazed Aluminum-Framed Curtain Walls (08910 - Metal-Framed Curtain Wall), BSD has implemented a basis of design option with intelligent linking based on components and characteristics similar to that in the Aluminum Windows and Aluminum-Framed Storefront sections.  Six different YKK curtain wall systems are offered with a variety of architectural features, performance characteristics and finishes.

Please note that, in all three of these sections, “Performance Requirements” has been moved from Part 1 to Part 2 to comply with the recent revisions to CSI's Three-Part Section Format.

Finally,YKK is a featured manufacturer in Section 01 7113.43 (10706) - Fixed Sun Screens.  This section describes fixed, outrigger-type sun screens for use with an aluminum-framed curtain wall system or attached to other types of construction. The user can select from a variety of outrigger styles, sun screen types and fascia profiles.  All are available in a variety of finishes.
