Master Specifications content for FF&E items

Rate this item
(0 votes)

BSD does not envision adding master specifications content for FF&E items beyond those we currently have, since there is rarely any benefit to having a General Contractor markup on loose furniture, fixtures, and equipment for FF&E items that do not need trade subcontractors to install, and can be procured separately. Also, these items typically cannot be capitalized. We would be happy to look at specific content to see if there is subscriber interest and if the request makes sense within the above context.

SLE users would be free to import their own content or develop their own content around specific owner and project needs; if you need assistance with this, contact support@bsdsoftlink.com.

There are potential source documents available at no cost:

www.4specs.com . (Please look for the brown icon that says ‘SPECS’.)

http://www.wbdg.org/ffc/dod/unified-facilities-guide-specifications-ufgs

( Note: The following UFGS sections can be found here as representative examples; however, note the  UFGS uses outdated passive voice that is not consistent with CSI best practices.)

See:

SECTION 11 70 00  GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL EQUIPMENT

SECTION 12 50 00.13 10  FURNITURE AND FURNITURE INSTALLATION

Many users often find it easier to import one of those documents into SpecLink-E than to create a new section from scratch.
