Silicone Sealants for Section 079005 - Joint Sealers (07900)

Momentive Performance Materials provides GE sealants, including exterior and interior joint sealants, mildew resistant sanitary sealants, acoustical sealants, and glazing sealants. The inherent properties of silicone provide excellent long-term resistance to natural weathering, including ultraviolet radiation, high and low temperatures and rain and snow, with negligible change in properties. Silicones have proved to be the longest lasting sealing material available for construction applications. From low-modulus sealants for EIFS and non-staining sealant for natural stones to custom colors or flexible silicone coatings, we offer products to achieve demanding aesthetic designs without sacrificing performance. Up to 20 year warranties available.

Two products that might be of particular interest are:

  • SilPruf NB SCS9000 -- high performance silicone exterior joint sealant that has low dirt-pickup (a problem with many other silicones) and is non-staining (many silicones bleed into stone and porous materials); Data Sheet.
  • RCS20 -- paintable interior siliconized acrylic sealant rated for acoustical applications; Data Sheet.

Silicone Structural Glazing Adhesives for Section 084413 - Glazed Aluminum Curtain Walls (08910)

Momentive Performance Materials provides GE structural glazing adhesives for curtainwall. The inherent properties of silicone provide excellent long-term resistance to natural weathering, including ultraviolet radiation, high and low temperatures and rain and snow, with negligible change in properties. Momentive must review shop drawings and test for compatibility for every project.

These products are intended for factory- or shop- application, in a controlled environment, not in the field. Three structural glazing adhesives that are available are:

  • UltraGlaze SSG4000 -- 1-component, neutral cure, high-strength elastomeric structural glazing adhesive; black; Data Sheet.
  • UltraGlaze SSG4000AC -- Same as SSG4000 but with accelerated cure, and available in black, grey, or white. Data Sheet.
  • UltraGlaze SSG4400 -- 2-component, neutral cure, high-modulus elastomeric structural glazing adhesive; black (standard cure and fast cure) or grey (fast cure). Data Sheet.
